Certification of reinforcing steel - Swedish product standards

Since there is no harmonized European standard for reinforcing steel, Nordcert offers certification according to the following product standards. It is also possible to certify a product according to other product specifications as long as it fulfils the authorities requirements. All SBS certified producer of reinforcing steel bars, coils and welded fabrics aimed for the Swedish market are certified according to SS 212540.

Nordcerts Certification rules and Marking requirements

Nordcert certifies all reinforcing products and the processes distribution, cutting, bending, and welding to the SBS mark.

All certified products shall be marked with the SBS mark which consist of the letters SBS in typeface Eurostyle Extended Two. The mark shall be applied on the bundle label and on inspection certificates. The manufacturer shall deliver inspection certificates for bars, coils and prestressing steel.

Education and training requirements

Nordcert supports education in the structural building sector with the aim to increase competence and safety. Nordcert also requires that specific persons in companies which have a certificate can show their competence by a passed exam.
