Reinforcement

Nordcert certifies the production of hot rolled deformed reinforcement, prestressing tendons, reinforcement meshes, and stainless reinforcement. Our certificates are the key to an effective presence on the Swedish market. Our certification marking, SBS, has been equivalent with certified reinforcement and construction steel since 1971.

We also offer certificates for distributors of reinforcement products. For the builder or contractor, a certified deliverer of reinforcement products ensures that the reinforcement has assessed properties.

We offer a certification solution adapted to the need of each individual client so they can meet the requirements stipulated in the regulations, as well as the requests and requirements of end users.

Since 2011, Eurocode 2 has stated the requirements for reinforcement in load-bearing structures. Aside from Eurocode, Boverket (the National Board of Housing, Building and Planning) has made national adaptions in EKS (Application of Eurocodes for Structural Design). No harmonised standard for reinforcement exists today, and therefore, European states use national product specifications to meet regulation requirements. For reinforcement with a yield strength of 500 MPa, SS 21 25 40 has become the product specification chosen by the market to meet regulatory requirements.

The table below shows the most common reinforcement standards. Our accreditation includes these standards and several standards used in other European countries. All manufacturers of reinforcement, coils, lattice girders, and reinforcement meshes certified by Nordcert are certified for requirements in SS 21 25 40. For prestressing tendons, we certify in accordance with prEN 10138 or SS 212551, SS 212552, SS 212553, and SS 212554.

To make it easier for our clients, we have drafted and developed certification rules. These are based on the requirements in regulations and standards produced by authorities. Our interpretations and application of these rules are established in Nordcert´s Technical Council on reinforcement. The technical council consists of representatives from the reinforcement industry − from steel mills to end users.
