Certified products provide purchasers, both at the factory and on the construction site, with a simplified method for controlling goods upon receipt, since testing and control of the products have already been carried out and declared by the deliverer. The receiver normally only needs to check the delivery note and make sure that the goods are certified, which should be clear from the control marking.
Nordcert assesses the competence of supervisors overseeing the assembly of concrete elements and of supervisors/inspectors for steel structures. This process leads to personal certificates for supervisors – CA.
Nordcert also certifies structural designers for steel structures in collaboration with the Swedish Institute for Steel Construction. This process leads to personal certificates for steel structural designers – CSK.
This makes the professional role more attractive and is also useful for companies in their marketing efforts to customers.
Nordcert is not accredited for personal certification, however, this is still integrated into Nordcert’s quality system.
Nordcert is accredited for its main product/process certification activities.
Process certification means that the certification body confirms that the manufacturer produces and controls the products in accordance with the standard’s requirements, and in some cases, Swedish construction regulations.
Recently published European product standards require “certified production and production control” or FPC (Factory Production Control).
The CE marking is used by the European Union. Products manufactured according to a harmonised technical standard can be sold as CE marked. The user is responsible for evaluating whether the product is authorised for a certain application, for example according to Swedish construction regulations. For products having an important impact on safety, an EU-Notified certification body must participate in confirming its properties.
Nordcert is an approved Notified Body in the EU and can thus authorise approved facilities to use the CE marking together with Nordcert’s number as a Notified Body: 1505. The European Commission’s website, Nando, provides a list of the standards for which Nordcert is accredited.
